Tektronix Oscilloscopes

Tektronix the world’s leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes for electronic design, troubleshooting, and service applications, have introduced two new oscilloscope families that establish a new benchmark for performance and ease-of-use among instruments in the low-cost oscilloscope market.

Tektronix re-defined the low cost market with its successful TDS200 Series, the worlds top-selling oscilloscopes. The affordable new TDS1000 and TDS2000 Series digital storage oscilloscopes once again redefine it with new value, performance, and usability features unmatched by other products in their class.
The new TDS1000 and TDS2000 Series oscilloscopes update and extend the performance and ease-of-use features of their predecessor, the TDS200 Series, the digital oscilloscope of choice for many design engineers around the world.
• Low-price
Offering colour performance at a black and white price, Tektronix has been able to deliver an unmatched package of performance and ease-of-use features at each price point in the low-cost range.
• Performance Real-time performance and standard features, such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) math function and advanced triggering, commonly found in higher performance instruments, define a new standard for performance in the low-cost oscilloscope market.
• Ease-of-Use Each instrument has been equipped with a variety of features that dramatically improve productivity.
• Autoset Pushing just one button causes the oscilloscope to detect and display the waveform type as sine, square, or video. At the same time, it provides different views and displays up to four automatic measurements for the displayed signal.
• Automated Measurements Eleven measurement types are built in. The user can quickly characterise a signal without relying on cursors or graticule interpretation. Enables users of all experience levels to perform fast, error-free measurements, particularly important for repetitive tests.
• Bandwidth and Sample Rate These oscilloscopes deliver their full bandwidth and sample rate on all inputs simultaneously and provide exceptional measurement accuracy while minimising the risk of aliasing; imperative for successful signal analysis and experimental conclusions.
• Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Math Function A feature commonly found only in higher performance oscilloscopes, this function enables educators to teach the fundamental principles of harmonic analysis by producing an FFT (spectrum) display of a signal to analyse, characterise and troubleshoot circuits by viewing frequency and signal strength.
• P2200 Probe The P2200 200 MHz 10X-1X switchable passive probe, offering accuracy, compatibility and reliability, is designed specifically for these oscilloscopes. With its switchable attenuation ranges, the matching P2200 probe comes standard with the oscilloscope (one per channel), making this instrument even more affordable.
• Ease of Use for Instruction and Learning All TDS1000 and TDS2000 Series models offer usability features that make them easy to learn and to use for students of various skill levels. An optional operator training kit, in addition to oscilloscope and probe primers, simplifies instruction.
• Simple User Interface Frequently used controls are instantly accessible from the front panel in the form of familiar, analogue-style knobs and buttons that simplify operation. Both families deliver vivid displays via a bright, high-contrast LCD with wide viewing angle that maintains full contrast at all sweep speeds and gain settings. The TDS2000 family offers a colour LCD to make it even easier to read and interpret waveforms, especially when multiple traces are displayed.
• Probe Check Wizard A built-in probe check wizard optimises probe setup and improves measurement accuracy by guiding the user to properly compensate the probe and confirm the probe attenuation factor prior to making measurements.
• Context-sensitive Help With just the push of a button, the user can bring up context-sensitive help instructions, including links to other related topics. Students can obtain on-the-spot instructions about the instrument’s controls and procedures.
• Compact Package with Security Loop Small and light, these instruments are compact and include a security loop to lock the oscilloscope in place when needed.
• Instructional Materials The optional operator training kit and primers simplify instruction and make learning easier for the student. The kit provides extensive information and step-by-step lab exercises, and includes a self-paced CD-ROM manual and signal source board (hardcopy manual may be purchased separately). The XYZs of Oscilloscopes and ABCs of Probes primers, offered free-of-charge, provide a solid foundation of the basics of oscilloscopes and probes.
By incorporating proven innovations from across our broad portfolio of oscilloscopes, the TDS1000 and TDS2000 families deliver superior performance and unmatched ease-of-use in their class. Many customers put price first when evaluating test equipment for use in design and debug, service and repair, manufacturing and quality assurance, or education, yet they can’t compromise the performance and ease-of-use they require.
The TDS2000 family provides more performance than any other DSO for the price, featuring a standard colour liquid crystal display (LCD) with significant bandwidth and sample rate, making it an ideal choice for today’s applications that require higher measurement performance and productivity in
cost-effective tools. The TDS1000 family offers the same ease-of-use enhancements with a monochrome display and all seven models provide real-time acquisition equal to their full bandwidth and sample rate on all channels simultaneously.
