Quadriform Dataserve :: About

An old door with a delightful knocker spotted in Venice, last year.
Quadriform was formerly known as Q-Grafx Imaging and originates from a background in digital imaging in the early nineties. Utilising high end scanners our services hinged around capturing photographs digitally, clients included Reading University, where amongst other projects we scanned a complete collection of 5"x4" film of the White Tower, at the Tower of London. Scanning work started to decline and the internet began to emerge as something worth looking into. So we morphed into a web solutions company.
We changed the name to Quadriform in 2003 to break away from the notion of graphic design.
Early web work was often undertaken for design agencies, to this end we soon established a healthy work flow designing and constructing web sites, 'brochureware' as we termed them, culminating in a major project undertaken for Quantum (Hard Disk Manufacturers) for a Knowledge Base Site. This was completed with all data being hand crafted no database in site!
The experience in sheer drudgery of producing the Knowledge Base Site, led to investigations with getting data from a database. As FileMaker Pro users, that began our life with data driven websites and in 1997 we completed our first for Rugby Joinery, the same database was used to compile a 300 page catalogue. We have continued to develop these strategies.
Now we use MySQL with Lasso or PHP.
We operate our own Servers which are co-located in the Manchester Science Park. The servers are rack mounted 1U Apple XServes, both are administered remotely.
Developing our own web based applications is the direction we are heading, to allow us to continue to grow in the very competitive space that is the internet.
Despite having set up e-commerce sites using various payment portals we prefer to use Protx as we have found them to be both economic and reliable for our clients.
